Texas Perinatal Association
The Texas Perinatal Association is being recognized for
their work to increase and advance community education
on perinatal health issues. During the Texas Perinatal
Association annual strategic planning meeting, the
board agreed that there was a need to provide education
to the community. The board directed all of the
conference chairpersons to explore community education
in conjunction with their meeting.
In 2009, the Midland/Odessa Conference partnered with
the local March of Dimes Director to sponsor a
community-wide outreach education event. Attendees of
the presentation earned points for their attendance
which could be redeemed for baby items through the
community Hope Chest program.
The majority of the attendees were recruited by Hope
Chest and the local WIC office. The number of attendees
numbered 75, including participants and volunteers. The
success of this community education outreach event
clearly demonstrated the value of forming synergistic
partnerships with local agencies, organizations and
individuals.
The Texas Perinatal Association (TPA) is a
not-for-profit, multidisciplinary organization
committed to achieving continuous improvement in the
quality of health care for mothers and infants in the
state of Texas. The mission is accomplished in a
variety of ways, including the active support of
education for providers and consumers of perinatal
health care throughout the numerous and diverse
regions in the state.
