AT NPA WE BELIEVE:
EVERY WOMAN who is a substance user needs reliable information to make informed decisions about their health care.
EVERY MOTHER cares about their children and wants them to have the best possible outcome.
EVERY BABY deserves a healthy start rooted in evidence-based care. And every baby deserves healthy parents and family who are supported by a caring community.
While we acknowledge that the perinatal period presents unique risks for those who are substance dependent and their babies, it is also a time when there are unique opportunities for positive intervention.
BUT TO BE SUCCESSFUL, WE HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER.
It is imperative that all of us who work with these vulnerable families - clinicians, mental health and community health care providers, case workers, parents, advocates, and allies - understand the nature of perinatal substance use disorders and provide interventions and care that preserve the parent-infant dyad, promote parenting potential, and support the baby’s health and development.
PLEASE JOIN US!
The National Perinatal Association's annual conference provides a unique forum for learning, sharing and collaborating across disciplines.
WE'RE EXCITED THAT YOU'RE COMING.
